The Town Council reported a pollution incident to the authorities late afternoon 2 September. This is the update:
"We are aware of a pollution incident in the Criccieth area.
Officers attended the scene yesterday evening (September 2) and found the source of the pollution which is impacting the River Cwrt and Criccieth beach. We are speaking to those responsible and they are working to rectify the issue.
We are in contact with Cyngor Gwynedd who have put signs up informing members of the public of the situation and advising against swimming.
If any offences are identified, we will take appropriate action in line with our enforcement policy.
